The second workshop in our Mastering Speedlights series takes the humble speedlight and supercharges it.
We're taking that flash off of camera, and putting it through it's paces. We'll be using modifiers including brollies, soft boxes and beauty dishes. We'll also show you how to set up a speedlight studio using multiple lights that will not break the bank.
- Off camera flash
- Multiple off camera flashes
- Working with brollies soft boxes and beauty dishes
- Setting up a speedlight studio
You will need a camera with interchangeable lenses that has a standard hot shoe and can shoot in RAW file format. If you have an early Sony or Minolta DSLR please advise us in advance in order for us to provide a hot shoe adaptor. Also some later Pentax models have a slightly different fitting.
We suggest bringing lenses that cover the following focal lengths, don't worry if you don't have these as you can complete the course with a standard kit lens.
Full Frame Sensors. 24mm - 200mm
APSC 1.5 Crop 18mm - 150mm
MFT 2x Crop 14mm - 100mm
You should be familiar with your camera controls and be able to shoot in manual exposure mode. Manual focussing is not required. Experience with speedlights is not required.
Just a quick note to say the recent night photography workshop that I attended was spot on !
Was it informative ? Yes
Did I learn something ? Yes
Can I transfer what was learnt into practice ? Yes
I will certainly be looking at other workshops in the future.
A highly recommended tutor !!
I attended a "Speedlights Fast track and The Speedlight Studio", workshop on Monday as I wanted to learn to use my speedlights in more efficient way - and I would like to say what a great trainer Andrew was. He was friendly and welcoming, answered questions, checked your understanding, showed you a range of equipment but did not sell you anything....
I came away having understood a lot more about how I can control light, how lights can be used together and how I don't have to break the bank to achieve the look I want to achieve. I would consider attending another workshop when he is back in Hampshire!
