21st November - 25th November 2018 - SOLD OUT

What you will learn

Starting from ‘back to basics’, everything you need to accelerate your future progress
Strategies for success across a range of photographic assignments - studio and on location
Key ways to speed up your work flow, making you more cost and time-efficient

The Complete Photographer is unlike any other photography course. It’s run over 5 days with a maximum of 4 students. Over the duration of the course, you receive quality tuition, both group and one-to-one, all geared to your specific needs and level of existing expertise. This is only possible because we keep the numbers low and the teaching contact time high. You cover a range of skills and genres, both with and without models. Is it intensive? Yes, expect to learn plenty! Everybody who has taken the course says that it really stretches them and has given them the confidence to take their photography further. Is it fun? Absolutely.

So, is this you?

You have a camera and you have got to grips with the basics of how to produce an image. At first, you were pleased with the results but now you feel like you’re in a bit of a rut and you know you could be better. You are very accomplished in other areas of your life so shouldn’t your expectations be just as high where your photography is concerned? That’s a perfectly reasonable aspiration but you know that your skill set is holding you back. You’re hungry for knowledge, understanding and the opportunity to experiment with new techniques, different genres, creative studio work and beautiful locations. And you’re impatient to get going with it. Quite simply, this comprehensive five-day hands-on learning experience, located in the glorious Lincolnshire Wolds, is the perfect solution; it equips you with everything you need to move forward at a pace you could not otherwise hope to achieve.

How do we meet your specific photographic needs?

The Complete Photographer series of workshops has been designed with both professionals and amateurs in mind. How come? In essence, the only difference between the two is this: professionals get paid. No matter what you aim to do with your increased level of expertise, the quality of your photography is central and that’s what we teach. Because we don’t offer advice on how to run a business, you receive a pure and undiluted five days of skills-based, hands-on photography tuition.

The clue is in the name of the course.

What if you’re a beginner?

Lack of experience is never a barrier to learning. You may be just starting out but, if you’ve got drive and ambition, you are entitled to the same opportunities as someone who has more experience. What you need is a fast-track foundation course, so that’s what we provide. Contact us if you would like a free half day foundation course prior to the workshop.

  • Refreshments on arrival, lunch and afternoon tea every day
  • Individual and small-group tuition from an award-winning trainer
  • Location and studio shoot time to practise and embed your learning
  • A professional model and an inexperienced sitter
  • Instruction on how to constructively critique images, both yours and others
  • A variety of daily assignments
  • Comprehensive course notes
  • A personalised post-course follow-up session

You will need an interchangeable lens camera that can shoot in manual and has a standard hot shoe. If you have a speedlight that has TTL and High Speed sync functions then bring that. Don't worry if you haven't it is not an essential.

“I took my time to choose a tutor that I felt could give me what I needed, working as a coach myself I understood how important it was to pick someone that wouldn’t pick one size fits all in their teaching style. So I took my time to look around, there are many many tutors / teachers / coaches out there that have the ability to work between huge gaps in ability of their students but yet find and understand exactly what is needed to ensure that each one improves.

The Complete Photographer Course, is exceptional in it’s itinerary in how it covers off and challenges even the most competent of photographer, it covers off different genres, but it’s beauty is it’s structure of absolutely nailing the basics but mixing theory with exceptional practical work. The icing on the cake however is Andrew Appleton, putting the wonderful, engaging nature aside, his technical, creative, relaxed yet focused mind and personality really make this course exceptional. Shooting street photography in the morning, then a model shoot in the mid day sun on a beach, then onto a child shoot in ever changing afternoon light and finally a late afternoon dramatic 1940’s railway model shoot, will test everyones ability, but Andrew is there as a guiding hand, to push you to levels you didn’t think possible.

I come away from 5 days, a much better technical photographer than I was before, but I also come away with an energy, focus and plan on what I want to do next, but that’s only 75% of what you get, the final 25% are the connections you make, the friendships that you build,  the life experience you achieve, bonding with the 3 other photographers and the most amazing models that Andrew works with.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt like I’ve had so much value for money in a photography course, i simply cannot praise Andrew and Helen on this course enough, thank you”Owen Clements

A huge turning point for me this year was Andrew's Complete Photographer course. Eat, sleep, drink photography - it was fantastic Imelda Bell

Rose Cottage Farm is located in the small village of South Willingham. It sits near the top of The Wolds with views over surrounding countryside. We make use of 2 large local halls for the studio work and have a number of disused farm buildings at our disposal for location work. The City of Lincoln is about 30 minutes away by car and the market towns of Louth, Market Rasen and Horncastle are all about 15 minutes away. We are also fortunate to be in striking distance of the unspoilt beaches and seaside resorts along our stretch of coastline.

For people travelling by rail there are mainline stations at Lincoln and Market Rasen, we run a complimentary delivery and collection service to and from the stations. There are also regular buses from Lincoln that stop in the centre of the village

Local B&Bs within 10 minutes drive are:

Glebe Farm which include holiday cottages: http://www.glebeapart.co.uk
