Do you provide any post-workshop support?
To act as an aide-memoire, we provide the relevant course notes for our one-day dance workshops. Whatever the photography course you opt for, we frequently find that fellow photographers keep in touch with each other; in fact, many long-lasting friendships and photography support groups are formed this way. If you are not already in our Appleton Photo Training Facebook Group, attending a workshop qualifies you to join. In the group, you have our listening ear and we will answer any questions you have. You’ll find it’s an invaluable resource, a generous and supportive community of photographers who are always willing to share and help each other. You are never alone with a problem!
Are refreshments provided?
On our one-day workshops and events, lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day. Tea/Coffee and biscuits will be waiting for you when you arrive and there’s another tea break mid-afternoon. There will be an early-afternoon buffet lunch with water and juices available. On our roadtrips, breakfast is often included with your accommodation; you are responsible for the cost of lunch, dinner and snacks. You will be asked for any special dietary requirements when you book on a course so that appropriate, no-fuss catering arrangements can be made for each individual photographer.
Will I be told the name of the dancer(s) on the workshop?
We generally make it our practice to publish the names of dancers who are booked for a workshop, roadtrip or event. Where this is not possible, we will post the information as soon the dancer is confirmed. You can rest assured that we will choose someone who is dedicated, experienced, easy to communicate with - and perfect for the casting. Years of experience have taught us the importance of selecting working professional dancers who are highly-trained in the dance genre you will be shooting. Traditionally, dancers we employ have worked with us many times before so they understand the specific challenges associated with photographing their art form. They work closely with you to achieve the best shots. The calibre of the dancers we use is critical so we take great care when welcoming a new dancer to the team.
What experience do I need?
For all our dance photography workshops, roadtrips and events, you will get the most out of the course if you are an intermediate level photographer. Please refer to the ‘Skill Level’ information for the course you are interested in. If you have any doubts at all, please do not hesitate to call us for a chat.
What equipment should I bring?
This depends on the dance photography course you book on. Please check the ‘What to Bring’ information for each specific workshop. Here, you will be advised of the lenses and other camera gear you will need. We supply all the studio lighting and equipment.
Can I use the images I take on the workshop?
Yes, you are welcome to use any images you take on the day in your portfolio. However, you are not permitted to sell these images. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions on this website for full details of usage.
