Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the images I take on the workshop?
Yes, you are welcome to use any images you take on the day in your portfolio. However, you are not permitted to sell these images. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions on this website for full details of usage.
What experience do I need?
Levels of experience required vary according to the workshop. For all our Styles workshops, you need to be an intermediate level photographer and some workshops need a more advanced level of proficiency. Please refer to the ‘Skill Level’ information for each workshop. If you have any doubts at all, do not hesitate to ask. We want you to get the most out of the course you are booking.
What equipment should I bring?
This depends on the workshop. Please check the ‘What to Bring’ information for the workshop you are booking. Here, you will be advised of the lenses and other camera equipment you will need. We supply all the studio lighting and equipment you will need.
Will I be told who is modelling on this workshop?
We try, as much as possible to publish the names of models who will be working on our Styles workshops. Where this is not possible, you can rest assured that they will be dedicated, professional, easy to communicate with - and perfect for the casting. Years of experience have taught us how to select models who are going to suit the genre you are shooting. Many of the models we employ have worked with us many times because they deliver what you need to get the best possible shots. And models are a critical part of the team so we take great care when choosing new faces.
Do you provide any post-workshop support?
To act as an aide-memoire, we provide the relevant course notes for each of our skills workshops. We frequently find that fellow photographers on our workshops keep in touch with each other; in fact, many long-lasting friendships and photography support groups are formed this way. If you are not already in our Appleton Photo Training Facebook Group, attending a workshop qualifies you to join. In the Group, you have our listening ear and we will answer any questions you have. You’ll find it’s an invaluable resource, a generous and supportive community of photographers who are always willing to share and help each other. You are never alone with a problem!
Are refreshments provided?
Yes, lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day. Tea/Coffee and biscuits will be waiting for you when you arrive and there’s another tea break mid-afternoon. There will be an early-afternoon buffet lunch with water and juices available. You will be asked for any special dietary requirements when you book on the course so that appropriate, no-fuss catering arrangements can be made for each individual photographer.
